Our Why

The Bozzelli Race for the Future (originally titled Madeline's Race for the Future) honors Libert and Madeline Bozzelli, local humanitarians who dedicated their lives to giving back to the Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, and Summit County communities. The well-known, well-loved couple raised over $200 million for organizations and causes like Akron Children’s Hospital, St. Thomas Hospital, Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, Arthritis Foundation, Center for the Blind, Ohio Ballet, Akron Civic Theater, Akron Symphony Orchestra, American Diabetes Association, and countless others. To honor Libert and Madeline's legacy, a different charity or organization each year will be selected to receive all race profits.
This year, all proceeds will benefit the Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter Memorial Foundation.
Why Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter Memorial Foundation
The Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter Memorial Foundation plays a crucial role in our community. Not only do they honor the bravery and sacrifice of firefighters, but they also provide vital support to current and retired firefighters and their families. Their work extends to community education and safety initiatives, making our city a safer place for everyone.
The Bozzellis understood the profound impact of local heroes. As Libert and Madeline aged, they often found themselves needing assistance, and it was the Cuyahoga Falls firefighters who consistently and compassionately provided support whenever they were called upon. The Bozzelli family deeply appreciates the consistent care and frequent help provided by the firefighters during that time. Supporting the Firefighter Memorial Foundation is a meaningful way to honor the dedicated individuals who serve and protect us all, just as they cared for Libert and Madeline.
